Looking for a professional massage chair and wondering why a Shiatsu massage chair is so different than the so-called “best massage chair brands”? The Shiatsu massage chair is the best massage chair, because it is based on the principles of the real Shiatsu therapy techniques, which were developed decades ago in Japan.
In a Shiatsu massage, the masseuse uses his thumbs, palms and fingers to apply pressure to specific areas of the body that correlate with the human anatomy and body functions.
With the use of one’s bare hands on the surface of the patient’s body, Shiatsu can alleviate back pain, migraines, menstrual pain, asthma, injuries, hypertension and more.
|Origins of Shiatsu
Traditional Shiatsu began with Tokujiro Namikoshi. He attempted to institute many different types of massage therapy before perfecting the widely accepted method of Shiatsu therapy in the 1950s.
But before his therapy was perfected and widely accepted, Namikoshi used his technique on his ill mother back in 1912. It wasn’t until 1925 that he opened his first Shiatsu Therapy clinic. More than 15 years later, Namikoshi opened his first Shiatsu College, where he directly trained individuals to perform his technique. The individuals he originally trained are considered his direct lineage.
All qualified Japanese Shiatsu therapists have gone through training directly with Namikoshi Sensei. Those directly in Namikoshi’s lineage have also developed various forms and branches of Shiatsu. These branches are all based on the same basic principles of anatomy and healing that Shiatsu is based on.
The technique quickly spread to the United States in the 1950s, the same decade that the Japanese government recognized Shiatsu as its own separate therapy. Anyone in the United States who practices Shiatsu is said to have been trained directly by someone of Namikoshi’s lineage.
